The use of supplements continues to rise in the U.S. By 2006 51.1% of adults took at least one dietary supplement (55% of women and 42% of men):

In Canada the numbers are even higher for adults over 20 years old. Overall the Canadian percentages are less (33.5% men and 46.9% women), but these include children and adolescents:

Due to the widespread use of supplements it is important to understand what you are taking and why you are taking them.
