Patient Confidentiality

We have an ethical and legal obligation to maintain strict patient confidentiality.

This means we cannot disclose or release any medical information revealed by you unless we are required to do so by law. You should feel comfortable to discuss your medical concerns frankly, knowing that our physicians will protect your confidentiality.

Some examples of required disclosure:

  • Mandatory reporting (e.g. where patient safety is involved, suspected child abuseĀ concerns about the ability to drive, specific infectious diseases, etc.)
  • Ministry of Health monitoring of claims.
  • Summonses, subpoenas and court orders.
  • WSIB reports.
  • The physicians at PromptDoc may assume that they can share your information with others in your “circle of care” (e.g. health care practitioners, hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, ambulance services or community care organizations) unless you specify otherwise.
